Making Dreams Come True

Making Dreams Come True

What difference can $15 a month make? In the life of a child in South Sudan… everything! Our Christian school has brought hope to the small village of Narus, South Sudan and the 900+ lives it impacts. Hope for literacy. Hope for a better future. But most importantly, eternal hope that a relationship with Jesus Christ brings.

Today, our older students say, “I want to be a doctor, the Commissioner, a nurse, a teacher, a pastor, a driver, a pilot.” When we had first asked the question “What do you want to be when you grow up” to the children entering into our program, we were met with blank stares. They had never dreamed of anything, other than surviving, because they had no hope of education or a future beyond the day to day. Thank you for partnering with us at Ends of the Earth to make these dreams a reality.

Hearts of Worship

Before dawn, the children rise from their beds and make their way to the meeting house for “Morning Glory.” Soft prayers can be heard as various children lead the others to pray for their community, the salvation of relatives, their education and even for those who sponsor them. Yes! The children you sponsor, pray for YOU!

As the sun shines it’s first rays on the garden, praises erupt from the 100 kids who live at the Children’s home. Their daily praises echo through the quiet village every morning and again each evening as they gather in a large circle to study God’s word and pray together. God is raising a generation of young people to know and love Him and who will share this love with the many unreached tribes around them.

A Mural of Joy

Written by Sienna age 17

The beginning vision for a mural at the Children’s Home was something the Lord showed me while in one of my art classes at high school. The assignment was to create a piece of art that would have an impact on those who would see it. The mural we created is an image of hope, love, unity, and most of all joy. The flower’s petals are made of a child’s or staff member’s handprint. Although it was a long process, it was so worth it to get to see their smiles as they showed their friends where their handprint was on the wall. On the inner wall, we painted a scene of clear skies and green hills with the verse from Habakuk 3:18, “Rejoice in the Lord.”

Getting to be with the children and staff on this short trip over the summer, I observed that rejoicing is really a reflection of the lives of the kids who live at the Children’s Home. I went hoping to just bring joy to them, and instead they showed me what pure joy in the Lord looks like and it was beautiful to experience.
